Gabriel Sherman predicted Megyn Kelly's departure from Fox News
Back in 2015, author Gabriel Sherman predicted Megyn Kelly’s departure from Fox News.
Gabriel Sherman, who authored The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic, Roger Ailes Built Fox News-and Divided a Country, told Steve Malzberg that Megyn Kelly did not like the control Donald Trump had on Fox News and how his pull was making politics more heated and contentious.
Melissa Clyne of Newsmax quoted Gabriel Sherman as saying to Steve Malzberg, “Up until this point, she was the fastest rising star at Fox News. She was really becoming the face of the network. I don’t think she wants to get down in the weeds and in the gutter and plays this kind of hardball politics.”
The “hardball politics” Sherman was referring to is that involving then Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump who threw a temper tantrum after Megyn Kelly took the time during one of the Republican Presidential Primary debates to question Donald Trump’s past behavior towards women.
Trump became so mad about Kelly questioning his “love” for the women folks that he told everyone that he could tell that Kelly had “blood coming out of her eyes…blood coming out of her whatever.”
Welp, that little comment united the women folks from both sides of the aisle.
The Republican and Democrat women folks had decided that the “blood out of her whatever” comment was an overt, sexist comment referring to Kelly’s Eve (her monthly).
Trump, of course, denied that he was being sexists and instead said that his comment was due to what he perceived as Kelly’s hate for him.
According to Kelly , her question resulted in some of Trump’s team hating her to the point that they began threatening her physically.
During an appearance on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” Kelly told host Anderson Cooper that one of the Fox News’ executives told Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen, who tweeted “Let’s gut her,” that Donald Trump’s end would come swiftly if Kelly were killed due to some within his team inciting violent acts against her.
Kelly also told Cooper that Corey Lewandowski, who managed to escape a battery charge last year, “specifically threatened” her.
Kelly told Phillip Elliot of Time Magazine that there were times when she and her husband wanted to respond but that they decided not to.
And the reason Kelly says she decided to remain silent as Trump team threw verbal punches at her is because she, “never wanted to be baited into doing something that would give him the fodder to jeopardize my fairness and my objectivity.”
Sherman said Ailes, who was forced out of Fox News after a series of sexual harassment lawsuits, had trouble figuring out a strategy that would enable him to keep Donald Trump in line.
Mellissa Clyne of Newsmax quoted Sherman as saying to Maltzberg about Ailes, “Donald Trump is not predictable and Roger Ailes is used to Republicans coming to kiss his ring. They all bow down to Fox News, but Donald Trump does not play by those rules and Ailes essentially doesn’t know how to act and so he’s been switching strategies.”
Ailes “switching strategies” has worked. It has landed him the ear of President-Elect Donald Trump.
As for Kelly, she’s moving on to NBC. Her last day with Fox News was last Friday.
